The Durham Bahá'í community is one of 127 local Bahá'í communities in the UK.  At the time of writing, the local community consists of English, Scottish, Iranian, and American friends.  The Bahá'í Faith promotes the unity of mankind - all races, ages and social classes come together to create a warm sense of community and strive towards the betterment of the world.  What the members of this community share in common is their belief in Bahá'u'lláh as the latest in a long line of Messagers from God.  However, Bahá'í communities are open to everyone regardless of their beliefs.

"Do not be content with showing friendship in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path."

- `Abdu’l-Bahá
